Black River Safari or Appleton Rum Tour Print E-mail

black_river.jpgThe group will depart at 8:30 a.m. and take a scenic drive to the South Coast of the island where they will board boats that will take them along Jamaica’s longest navigable river as it flows through the largest wetland on the island, The Black River Morass. As you go six 96) miles up the river, the captain or guide will give commentary on the ecology and history of the area. The captain will hand-feed Herman, a free living crocodile and describe the other endangered crocodile and the over one hundred (100) species of bird recorded in the morass, along with the mangrove, palms and other plants in the freshwater swamp. A Jamaican lunch is served at one of the quaint restaurants nearby.
